The present invention relates to a hard surface cleaning device 10 including: a surface-contacting assembly 12 having a suction opening (58, fig 2); a body 14 providing a suction source 26 in fluid communication with the suction opening for sucking a fluid mixture of liquid and air from a hard surface; a rotation assembly 42 mounted on the body for rotation relative to the body, the rotation assembly being rotationally fixed relative to the surface-contacting assembly, and the rotation assembly including a separation chamber 45 in which liquid is separated from the fluid mixture, the separation chamber providing a suction inlet (46, fig 2) in fluid communication with the suction opening, a suction outlet (48, fig 2) in fluid communication with the suction source, and a drainage outlet (50, fig 2) for connection to a receptacle 16 for receiving liquid separated from the fluid mixture via the drainage outlet.
