[Class 38 (v)] The invention of the parent Specification is modified in that the circuit of the switch magnet is controlled by a cut-out relay which in the closed position of the protective switch is in turn latched with the carrier for the combined movable contact and latch members, so that the closure of the protective switch when the switch magnet is de-energized, is maintained by the cut-out relay. The moving contact carrier 1 and armature 2 are independently pivoted at 4 and have projections 54 which inter-engage when the magnet 3 is energized to close the switch, in which position a latch 63 on the carrier 1 engages the latch arm 61 of a normally-energized relay 56, 57, and at the same time opens an auxiliary switch contact 34 to de-energize the closing electromagnet 3, whereupon the armature 2 is returned to the off position by spring 2a. Another auxiliary switch 59 opened by the lever 22 and pin 10a on contact 8 de-energizes the latch relay 56 after a quick-release of one of the phases, so releasing the carrier 1 and opening all the phases, and also the contact 33 of the auxiliary switch to prevent an attempt to reclose before the released contact is reset. The resetting knob 28 operates the latter through the lever 22 and pin 10a and also permits spring 40 to latch the carrier 1 during resetting; it also allows switch 59 to reclose and re-energize relay 56 to reset the latch 61 and prepare for reclosure by press-button 55. |
