<p>Properties of biological tissue may be determined percutaneously and intraoperatively with a needle probe which includes a number of sets of emitting and collecting optical fibers terminating at different locations along the length of the needle. Such an optical fiber arrangement enables tissue information to be gathered across the entire needle length, allowing for the rapid provision of information about the tissue surrounding the needle probe at several positions along the probe.</p> |
