PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide (a motor drive and a motor drive method) which can produce a high motor torque while suppressing vibration or noise. ! SOLUTION: A motor drive of a two-phase excitation permanent magnet stepping motor includes a drive circuit for supplying a microstep drive current to the winding of each phase. The microstep drive current has a trapezoidal current waveform which changes like a primary straight line only when inverting the excitation direction, and maintains the peak current value in the holding state, and the electric angle phase difference of each phase is 45 degrees. !
