COMPOUND HAVING FLUORINATED NAPHTHALENE STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which has both of low viscosity and high preservation stability and exhibits positive dielectric anisotropy (&Dgr;&egr;) and to provide a liquid crystal composition containing the compound as a constituent member, and a liquid crystal display element.SOLUTION: The compound is shown by general formula (1). The compound shown by the general formula (1) is used as a component of the liquid crystal composition to obtain the liquid crystal composition which has low viscosity and excellent preservation stability and exhibits positive &Dgr;&egr;. Therefore, the compound is very useful as a constituent component of the liquid crystal composition for the liquid crystal display element.
