The present invention relates to a gear milling tool. Milling inserts with four cutting blades and two holes are mounted on a tool body in a contact line direction. Only one of the two holes is utilized for two index position of the whole four index positions form a fixing screw. A screw hole is arranged at a position on a sheet of the milling insert which is spaced from the radial supporting surface of the sheet and further than the distance from the distal end of the milling insert and each hole so that an inner elastic force of the fixed screw provides a clamping force. The milling inserts are pressed toward the inner supporting surface of the contact line direction of the seat by transverse eccentricity. The two holes of the milling inserts having different length can be formed at positions spaced at an identical distance from the distal ends of the milling inserts. Therefore, milling inserts having different length can be mounted on the single identical tool body. |
