The invention relates to a method and system of encoding and decoding video comprising a step of eliminating interpixel redundancy during encoding and a step of repixellation during decoding. The method is characterised, during encoding to calculate each residual image (R1 to R3), by a step of reducing the differences resulting from the effects of pixellation of each source image (S1 to S3) and, during decoding to obtain each display image (A1 to A3), by a step of repixellation combining the multiple colour values of each pixel in the reference image (F1, F2, F3).
