摘要 Abstract The Swept Area Turbulating Infill Device for Vapor Compression Machines has been invented to assist the transition of air conditioners, refrigeration and freezing machines and heat pumps from fluorocarbon refrigerants to hydrocarbon refrigerants by reducing the volumetric capacity of the refrigerant circuit pipework. Background to the need for such a Device is the phase out of High Global Warming Potential fluorocarbon refrigerants in accordance with international protocols; and that a desirable characteristic of hydrocarbon refrigerants as alternatives is that they exhibit low Global Warming Potential. In certain designs of machines the change to Hydrocarbons can also enhance thermal efficiency. The reason such a Device can be usefully employed is that the comparative charge of refrigerant for a hydrocarbon machine is typically less than 50% of that of an equivalent fluorocarbon charged machine, with a resultant comparative reduction in required volumetric capacity of pipework. The function of this Device is to occupy sections of the core of the otherwise hollow heat exchanger pipework, directly reducing volume without redesign or manufacture of other aspects of the heat exchangers. Further, The Device can be designed to increase heat exchange capacity by increasing the velocity and breaking up the laminar flow of the refrigerant.
