Disclosed is a method for diagnosing an error of CAN communication. According to a method for diagnosing an error of CAN communication according to the present invention, rolling counter values stored in each of a main electronic control device and a sub electronic control device are compared with each other. If the difference value of each rolling counter is within a pre-established error diagnosis deferred range, the judgment for the error diagnosis about corresponding CAN communication is deferred. If accumulated error diagnosis number arrives at a pre-established error diagnosis confirmation number according as the rolling counter difference value gets out of the error diagnosis deferred range, the method confirms the case as a CAN communication error. If the rolling counter values of the main and the sub electronic control device coincide with each other, the method judges judgment of error diagnosis about CAN communication as a normal one and thus can block excessive error diagnosis about CAN communication even though temporary signal delay phenomenon (that is, jitter) occurs in CAN communication.
