PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TDI system linear image sensor in which MTF deterioration is suppressed without increasing FPN, while avoiding the influence of coupling noise due to a vertical transfer clock, and to provide a driving method therefor.SOLUTION: A charge transfer unit 115 is provided between a photoelectric conversion unit 111 constituted by arranging pixels 1 in two-dimensional array, and a horizontal transfer unit 112, and the photoelectric conversion unit is divided into a plurality of pixel blocks in the horizontal transfer direction. In the horizontal transfer unit, a connection transfer unit 112a being supplied with pixel signal charges from the pixel block of the photoelectric conversion unit via the charge transfer unit, and a non-connection transfer unit 112b not supplied with pixel signal charges are arranged alternately in the horizontal transfer direction. The non-connection transfer unit generates a pixel blanking period where the pixel signal charges do not exist in one imaging period. |
