A method of monitoring access to data (and particularly, confidential data) from mobile communication devices comprises, for each access attempt, recording data representing at least one of the following variables: (i) the identification of the user attempting to gain access to the data; (ii) the identification of the mobile communication device from which the access attempt was made; and (iii) the location from where the access attempt was made, and also recording data representing at least one further variable selected from: (i) the time of the access attempt; (ii) the identification of the user attempting to gain access to the data; (iii) the identification of the device from which the access attempt was made; and (iv) the location from where the access attempt was made. If a statistically significant change is detected in one or more of these variables, when compared with previous access attempts, the access attempt is noted on a watch list and/or access to the data is denied. |
