The problem addressed by the invention is to provide a nonwoven fabric for semipermeable membrane support for which adhesion of the semipermeable membrane to the support is favorable, uniformity of the thickness of the semipermeable membrane is favorable, and coated solutions do not breakthrough to the back side. Defining the coated layer portion for this nonwoven fabric for semipermeable membrane support as a prescribed portion of the total weight in the thickness direction from the surface where the semipermeable membrane is coated, the non-coated layer portion as a prescribed portion of the total weight in the thickness direction from the surface where the semipermeable membrane is not coated, and the middle layer portion as the portion after the respective prescribed portions of the total weight in the thickness direction have been removed from both the semipermeable membrane-coated surface and the non-semipermeable membrane-coated surface: the pressure drop per unit weight of the post-removal middle layer portion is lower than the pressure drop per unit weight of the coated layer portion and the pressure drop per unit weight of the non-coated layer portion; and the pressure drop per unit weight of the post-removal middle layer portion is in the range of 10% - 70% of the pressure drop per unit weight of the pre-removal nonwoven fabric. The prescribed portions are about 25%.
