PURPOSE: An authentication method to prevent loss and theft is provided to prevent ID theft and information exposure threat by preventing use of internet service using account information stored in a lost smart phone. CONSTITUTION: A client and authentication server shares and stores a phone number, device information, USIM information, loss authentication information, caller authentication information, a symmetric key of caller authentication of a smart phone. A client transmits caller authentication information and telephone number of a smart phone to the authentication server using device ID information. The authentication server decodes encrypted authentication information of a server to first device identification information of the server. The authentication server restores the first device identification information of a device. The caller authentication information of the device is replaced with the loss authentication information. The client caller authentication information is decoded to the first device identification information. The client converts the smart phone into a lock mode.
