PIT BARREL PUMP AND METHOD FOR INCORPORATING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pit barrel pump having a suction vortex-preventing means that does not cause a reduction in pit size or decreased performance.

SOLUTION: The vertical pump 8 includes: a pump suction port 2 provided at the lower end for suctioning the working fluid; a vaned wheel 6 installed on the rotation shaft 5 adjacent to the suction port; and guide vanes 7 that are disposed downstream of the vaned wheel and pressurize the working fluid to which a rotational component has been applied by the vaned wheel. A vortex generation-preventing device 4 is additionally installed below the pump suction port. The outer diameter ϕd0of the pump suction port and the outer diameter of the vortex generation-preventing device are made to be smaller than the maximum outer diameter ϕd3of the guide vanes. The pump is configured so that the vertical pump and the vortex generation-preventing device can be taken out of the pit.
