The system has a connector (114) with a set of pins, which is configured to be detachably connected with a parallel-advanced technology attachment (ATA)-memory unit (116) and a serial-ATA-memory unit (118). One of the pins transmits a signal, which indicates whether the connector is connected with the memory unit (116). Another pin transmits another signal, which indicates whether the connector is connected with the memory unit (118). A register (132) stores connection information, which indicates whether the memory unit (116) and/or the memory unit (118) is connected with the connector. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a computer system. |
