PURPOSE: An image processing method and a stereoscopic image display device are provided to apply a sharpness filter to pixel data of a detected text area in case of a 2D mode and apply an average value with pixel data which is adjacent to the pixel data in case of a 3D mode, thereby increasing character readability of the text area. CONSTITUTION: A stereoscopic image display device detects an edge of gray scale image data(S103). The stereoscopic image display device detects a text area from an image in which the edge is detected(S104). The stereoscopic image display device applies an average value of pixel data which is adjacent to the pixel data(S106). The device converts left eye data and right eye data in which the average value is applied into a 3D format(S108).
