<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a prior art remains to improve detection of a behavior of a rope within an elevator shaft. <P>SOLUTION: A rope behavior detecting apparatus includes an electric circuit, a measuring instrument and a detecting instrument. The electric circuit has a connection of a plurality of ropes which are coupled to the shaft body of an elevator and arranged in parallel with a DC power supply that supplies a direct current power. The measuring instrument measures a current flowing through the electric circuit.
