PURPOSE: A composition and a functional food containing Galla Rhois ethanol extract are provided to suppress kidney cancer cell growth and to induce kidney cancer cell apoptosis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventingn and treating kidney cancer contains Galla Rhois ethanol extract as an active ingredient, prepared using 95% ethanol at 50 Deg. C. for 24 hours. The composition also contains pharmaceutically acceptable carriers or diluents. A functional food for preventing kidney cancer contains the Galla Rhois ethanol extract as an active ingredient, and sitologially acceptable food additives.
