<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid vehicle drive device and a control method that can demonstrate a stable performance by controlling decrease of output performance of an inverter over and above what is required by continuing the capacitor temperature estimation even if the data required for the temperature estimation has a deficit. <P>SOLUTION: An inverter ECU determines whether the engine water temperature data can be obtained at S30, and if obtainable, executes the capacitor saturation temperature estimation using the past saturation temperature A. When determining that the engine water temperature cannot be obtained, the estimation method of the smoothing capacitor temperature is changed, and in S34 and S36, the information is obtained and smoothing capacitor temperature Tc is estimated. If the estimated smoothing capacitor temperature Tc exceeds the protection threshold, the inverter ECU executes S42 and decreases the smoothing capacitor temperature Tc by controlling the inverter output restriction, the inverter pump and the fan speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
