PURPOSE: A mapping management system and a method for improving a duplication removal performance of the storage device are provided to reduce altering and copying operations, by storing the changed data of a source block in a reference block and by referring to the reference block when the data of the source block is altered. CONSTITUTION: A duplication deleting unit(110) maps a reference block in the original block. A data modification modifies the data of the original block, a data modifier stores the changed data in the reference block, and sets the original block such that the original block refers to the reference block. A mapping table arranger(140) modifies the chain block and the data of reference block according to a reference object and deletes information about the chain block on the mapping table.
