Methods and network entities for acquiring an IP address of a user are provided by the present invention, and one of the methods includes that: the first network element receives a message of acquiring the IP address of a user, wherein the message is transmitted by the second network element (201); the first network element allocates an IP address for the user, and transmits the IP address to the second network element (202); a query message transmitted by a gateway with the IP address is received, and a user identity is acquired and transmitted to the gateway (203). In other words, the first network element allocates an IP address for the user, and the second network element and the gateway acquire the IP address, so that the second network element can establish connection with the user. Therefore, a problem in the prior art is solved, and the problem is that: the second network element cannot acquire the IP address, which is caused by that a stationary IP address cannot be configured for a Machine to Machine (M2M) terminal while the network side pushes services. |
