<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster which can cause thread faces to hardly be worn and ensure the friction coefficient between thread faces for a long period of time in a diesel engine in which a large amount of carbon soot is mixed into an engine oil. <P>SOLUTION: The lash adjuster 1 includes a nut member 17 having female thread 16 on its inner circumference, an adjust screw 19 having a male thread 18 screwed to the female thread 16 on its outer circumference, and a return spring 20 energizing the adjust screw 19, and adjusts a clearance between the constitution members of a variable valve gear by axially moving the adjust screw 19 while rotating it in the nut member 17, wherein a high hardness carbide layer 27 having a hardness of Hv 1500 or more is provided on the surface of the thread face 19a using the thread face 19a of the adjust screw 19 as a pearskin finish. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
