<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasound probe that lightens the burden on the operator and enables ultrasound diagnosis to be conducted with the probe held in a stable posture. <P>SOLUTION: A housing 2 has at one end portion 2a thereof a transducer array compartment 7 for housing a transducer array 3. The other end portion 2b of the housing has a projection 8 projecting in a given direction D perpendicular to a center line C of the arrangement of the transducer array 3. The projection houses the battery 6 having a significant weight therein. The housing comprises a grip 9 in which a signal processing board 4 is housed between the transducer array compartment 7 and the projection 8. The center of gravity G of the whole ultrasound probe 1 lies in a position away from the center line C of the arrangement of the transducer array 3 in the given direction D when the ultrasound transmission/reception surface 3a of the transducer array 3 is placed in a horizontal posture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
