The present invention relates to a method and system for monitoring a moving object in a wide area using multiple cameras and an object-tracking algorithm. The method and system of the present invention comprise a tracking system controlling multiple cameras in which a plurality cameras track an object, and a mobile communication system delivering the tracked result of the tracking system to a mobile terminal of a user. According to the present invention, only the Y signal from an RGB image which is inputted from a camera is detected and stored. Whether or not there is a moving object is checked by obtaining a difference image using the differences between the pixels of a current image and those of a previous image. If there is a moving object, the image of the moving object is separated from the difference image by removing the noise using a projection vector. Then, compared with separation coordinates of the moving object for the entire image, the moving direction is checked, and a reference block is set to the moving object in the current image. Thus, the edges of the current image and those of the previous image are detected and block-matched, thereby tracking the moving object. |
