<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network monitoring device capable of detection of networks in various connection modes and to prevent detection of a different connection mode from an actual connection mode due to wrong setting of an IP address. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 112 of a network monitoring device 11 obtains an IP address and a MAC address of one monitoring object device, and an IP address and a MAC address of the other monitoring object device, from each of a pair of the monitoring object devices that directly communicate with each other.
