PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience of an image processing apparatus by reducing waiting time of a user after entry of authentication information so as to allow the user to start operation relatively early. SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus 3 is equipped with: a display part 34 displaying various information; an authentication information inputting part 51 receiving entry of authentication information by a user; a setting information inputting part 52 receiving a setting operation by the user to input setting information; an authentication processing part 60 starting authentication processing to execute user authentication based on the authentication information in response to the entry of the authentication information; and a display controlling part 54 displaying an initial operation screen operable for the user to make setting on the display part 34 in parallel with the authentication processing in the authentication processing part 60, and for reflecting the setting information input by the setting information inputting part 52 until obtaining a result of the authentication processing on the initial operation screen.
