The invention relates to a mold blocking member for use in a vent bore of a mold for the manufacture of rubber products. The mold blocking member (10) comprises a central body (20) having a first end (15) and a second end (16), wherein the first end (15) has a cap (30) with an inner portion (32) surrounded by a recessed annular portion (34), and wherein the inner portion (32) is connected to the recessed annular portion (34) by a sidewall (36), the sidewall (36) having one or more openings (40) therein.
