PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically sort cargoes, by specifying the delivery destination of the cargoes based on bar code information, in a physical distribution center for receiving the cargoes to a plurality of retail stores adopting bar codes different in specifications. SOLUTION: This sorting system 10 includes a sorting conveyor 12 and a control device 14, and sorts the cargoes to the delivery destination by the bar code information detected by a bar code reader 32. The control device 14 includes a PLC 44 and a PC 46. The PC 46 is connected with a retail store DB 62 for storing information on the specifications of the code adopted by the respective retail stores and a summary of a predetermined code such as a customer code and a store code. A candidate of the retail store is extracted using a bar code kind and the total digit number, and the retail store is specified from the retail store candidate by the code of a predetermined digit position of the bar code, and the delivery destination of the cargoes is also specified by referring to the store code.
