<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element that implements improved output efficiency by suppressing total reflection in the element. <P>SOLUTION: The organic EL element includes a glass substrate 1 as a base, a transparent electrode 2, a hole transport layer 3, an organic light-emitting layer 4 and a cathode metal electrode 5. A light scattering layer 7 is attached to the side of the glass substrate 1 which is devoid of the transparent electrode 2 via adhesive 6. The light scattering layer 7 has a light-transmissive base material 8, and many first columnar areas 9 transmissive to light and different in refractive index from the base material 8. The many first columnar areas 9 are longitudinally parallel to one another and at a first oblique angle to the direction of thickness of the light scattering layer 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
