PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a differential amplifier even when an input voltage V<SB>IN</SB>is a negative voltage. SOLUTION: A semiconductor integrated circuit 10 includes: an input section 11 for receiving a first input voltage V<SB>IN1</SB>and a second input voltage V<SB>IN2</SB>; a differential amplifier 14 for amplifying a differential input voltage V<SB>ID</SB>obtained from a difference between the first input voltage V<SB>IN1</SB>and the second input voltage V<SB>IN2</SB>to generate a differential output voltage V<SB>OD</SB>; a switching section 12 for switching a circuit between the input section 11 and the differential amplifier 14; a control section 13 for controlling the switching section 12 in accordance with the magnitude of the input voltage V<SB>IN</SB>so as to reduce the differential input voltage V<SB>ID</SB>; a sample/hold section 15 for correcting the offset voltage V<SB>OFF</SB>of the differential amplifier 14; and an output section 16 for outputting the differential output voltage V<SB>OD</SB>generated by the differential amplifier 14 after correcting the offset voltage V<SB>OFF</SB>by the sample/hold section 15.
