Disclosed is a laminate having a high dichroic ratio. Specifically disclosed is a laminate comprising: a photo-alignment film layer (A) which is formed using a photo-alignment film-forming composition that can exert a liquid crystal alignment ability upon the irradiation with light; and a polarizing layer (B) which is formed using a polarizing layer-forming composition that contains at least one azo dye represented by general formula (I) and having nematic liquid crystallinity as the main component. In the laminate, the photo-alignment film-forming composition contains an optically active compound having at least one carboxyl group and/or at least one sulfo group.
