Starting system for an engine

The system has a starter including a communication interface for receiving data representing a starting command. An inhibition module prevents starting of an engine when an inhibition signal (VI) has magnitude (V) in higher range (UR). A controller has a communication interface for transmitting the data. A source provides an inhibition signal. The controller is arranged to provide a preset temporal profile (PRF) to the inhibition signal. The starter starts a motor according to the appearance of the profile in the inhibition signal. The starter is an alternator-starter or an electric engine-generator. An independent claim is also included for a computer program having a set of instructions to operate a controller of a motor starting system.
