The device (1) has a particle filter (K3), and an oxidation catalytic converter (K1) arranged upstream of the particle filter with respect to a direction of an exhaust gas flow. An insert (3) with ducts (5, 5') for parallel flow comprises an inflow-side with a section (6) with an oxidation catalyst coating to form the converter. The insert comprises an outflow-side with another section (7) forming the particle filter. The latter section comprises inlet ducts (12) closed on the outflow side and outlet ducts (13) closed on an inflow side of the latter section after the former section.
