PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing an image capable of effectively correcting rotational deflection of imaging data. SOLUTION: A posture detection portion 105 detects rotational deflection of an imaging apparatus upon generating imaging data to output rotational deflection information. A shutter drive portion 106 determines opening/closing of a shutter 102 upon generating image data from the rotational deflection to output shutter opening/closing information. A correction portion 107 corrects the rotational deflection of the imaging data based on the shutter opening/closing information and the rotational deflection information.
