<p>The invention relates to an airbag device (1) for a vehicle (4), comprising an airbag (2) and a foot support surface (3), the foot support surface (3) being arranged to support a foot (16) of a vehicle occupant (17), the foot support surface (3) being movable from a first position (A) to a second position (B) in the vehicle (4) under activation of the airbag (2) by a pressure source (6), wherein a tibia angle (˜) is defined between a tibia (20) appertaining to said foot (16) and a floor plane (P) of the vehicle (4), wherein the second position (B) is a retracted position located rearward of the first position (A) with respect to the normal driving direction of the vehicle (4), and wherein the foot support surface (3) is movable from the first position (A) to the second position (B) in order to achieve a larger tibia angle (˜) in the second position (B) than in the first position (A).
