The invention relates to a method for producing a SiC ceramic component, comprising the following steps: producing a thermoplastic starting material by mixing - in each case relative to the starting material - 60 to 95 wt% wood fibers and 5 to 40 wt% polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), or polybutene (PB) or mixtures thereof as a thermoplastic binder, wherein the following applies to the melt mass-flow rate (MFR) of PP, PE, and PB: for PP: MFR = 0.5 to 30 g/10 min., measured at 2.16 kg and 230 °C; for PE: MFR = 0.5 to 30 g/10 min., measured at 5 kg and 190 °C; for PB: MFR = 1 to 60 g/10 min., measured at 2.16 kg and 190 °C; producing a molded body from the thermoplastic starting material by extrusion or injection molding; pyrolyzing the molded body while excluding oxygen to form a carbon template; and infiltrating the template with a silicon melt. |
