<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily compose a musical piece consisting of phrases which proceed at the same time. <P>SOLUTION: A central processing unit (CPU) 22 displays one or more of time lines LINE-i and one or more objects ob-n on a display unit 17 according to operations of a mouse 14 and a keyboard 15, and changes their display positions in a display area of the display unit 17, according to operations of the mouse 14 and the keyboard 15. When a plurality of time lines LINE-i are displayed in the display area of the display unit 17, the CPU 22 generates sounds of a musical piece in which a plurality of kinds of phrases corresponding to each of the plurality of time lines LINE-i are overlapped in a time axis.
