<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell hardly generating residence of liquid water even during operation under a high humidification condition and excellent in gas diffusion. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell has a pair of separators 9 between which a membrane-electrode assembly is interposed, a groove demarcating a blocked supply passage (A) in which the downstream end of reaction gas being supplied to the membrane-electrode assembly is blocked and a blocked exhaust passage (B) arranged alternately with the blocked supply passage (A) and separated from the blocked supply passage (A) is formed in at least one of the separators, and in a gas diffusion layer 5 facing the separator demarcating the blocked supply passage (A) and the blocked exhaust passage (B), at least a region 5h facing a rib 9r separating the blocked supply passage (A) and the blocked exhaust passage (B) is hydrophilic, and the hydrophilic region has pore size distribution increasing the pore size of pores from the blocked supply passage (A) toward the blocked exhaust passage (B). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
