<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission system which maintains connections in whole links and improves failure resistance by avoiding failure in some lanes, using only normal lanes, and reducing a communication capacity in a multi-lane transmission which can change the number of lanes. <P>SOLUTION: The transmission system includes transmitters, repeaters, and receivers. The transmitters and repeaters are connected via first transmission routes; the repeaters and receivers are connected via second transmission routes; the transmitters, repeaters, and receivers prepare virtual lanes; the transmitters divide transmission data into data streams of the number of usable virtual lanes based on using lane information; the repeaters supervise failure in each transmission lane of the first transmission routes and each virtual lane; and the receivers supervise failure in each transmission lane of the second transmission routes and each virtual lane, decide usable virtual lane, transmit the using lane information to the transmitters, and restore the divided data streams to the transmission data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
