<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compression and decoding system which can efficiently compress and decode a code amount. <P>SOLUTION: The image compression and decoding system is provided with an image compression apparatus and an image decoding apparatus. The image compression apparatus includes: an image dividing means which divides an image, and creates a plurality of block images; a block image adjusting means which adjusts luminance of pixels consisting respective images of a plurality of block images, and converts to a plurality of adjusted block images; and an image compression means which classifies respective images of the plurality of the adjusted block images into similar block image groups for each similar block images, and converts and compresses respective groups into a representative vector representing the similar block image groups. The image decoding apparatus includes: an image decoding means which decodes the representative vector included in the compressed image to the adjusted block image; a block image restoration means which adjusts luminance of the pixels consisting respective block images of the plurality of the adjusted block images, and restores the plurality of the block images; and an image restoration means which integrates the plurality of the block images, and restores the images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
