The fuel cell system has a fuel cell and a process gas generating device (2) for the generation of the process gas for operating the fuel cell. An adsorbent device (3) is provided with an adsorbent unit (3a) and another adsorbent part (3b) downstream before the fuel cell. The former adsorbent unit or the latter adsorbent unit is connected with the product gas by an allocation unit for receiving the humidity from product gas. The adsorbent device has an absorbent material, which is made up of a humidity absorbent agent from a group of zeolite, silica gel or other strong hydrophilic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for starting and operating the fuel cell system. |
