PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a sticking state of a spine glue and a side glue of a booklet regardless of quality and thickness of paper sheets constituting the booklet. SOLUTION: The spine glue applicator of booklets includes a gluing drum 7 that rotates with a glue inside a container 6 deposited thereon and a clamper 4 that clamps a booklet P and passes over the gluing drum 7, wherein the glue deposited on the gluing drum is applied to the spine of the booklet clamped in the clamper by the passing over the gluing drum 7. When a middle part of the booklet P clamped in the clamper 4 reaches the top of the gluing drum, the circumferential speed of the gluing drum 7 is increased relative to the travelling speed of the booklet P. As a result, with a single application, the sticking state of the glue on the spine of the booklet as well as the sticking state of the side glue on both front and rear sides can be optimized.
