<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorizing unit which purifies air supplied to the interior of a room by forming active species, wherein it is possible to more efficiently remove the odor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The deodorizing unit 1 includes a body casing 10 and an active species forming section 3. In the body casing 10, a gas introducing port 15a and a gas exhaust port 16a are provided, the inside is in an approximately rectangular parallelepiped form, and there is an air current from the gas introducing port to the gas exhaust port in the inside. The active species forming section is of an approximately rectangular parallelepiped form and forms active species which disassemble or inactivate at least one of bad odor molecules and harmful gas ingredients. The active species forming section is contained in the inside of the body casing and is arranged and inclined in the longitudinal direction to an aspect in which the gas introducing port and the gas exhaust port are formed.
