PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indicating instrument for vehicles for reducing waste of consumption power. SOLUTION: The indicating instrument 1 for vehicle includes a pointer 12 for indicating the remaining amount of fuel according to a rotary position; a step motor 13 for rotating and driving the pointer 12 by inputting an AC drive signal that corresponds to the electrical angle to field winding; and a meter control unit 20 for controlling each drive signal output to the field winding of the step motor 13. In the indicating instrument 1 for vehicle, the meter control unit 20 changes the electrical angle of each drive signal, by adjusting the output level of each drive signal to a prescribed normal level, when established determination of the change conditions for changing the rotary position of the pointer 12 is given, and holds the electrical angle of each drive signal, by adjusting the output level of each drive signal to a suppression level that is restrained, as compared with a normal level, when established determination of the holding conditions for holding the rotary position of the pointer 12 is given.
