PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing losartan is provided to obtain losartan without by-product and to simplify manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: A losartan of chemical formula V is obtained by dropping hydrochloric acid to trityl losartan of formula IV under the presence of haloalkane solvent and polar solvent. The volume ratio of haloalkane solvent polar solvent is 1:30-30:1. The haloalkane solvent is dichloromethane, chloroform, or 1,2-dichloroethane. The polar solvent is acetonitrile, propionitrile, methanol, ethanol, or isopropanol. A method for preparing trityl losartan comprises: a step of performing coupling reaction of 2-n-butyl-4-chloro-1H-imidazole-5-carboxyaldehyde with 5(4-bromomethyl-1,1'-biphenyl-2-yl)-2-triphenylmethyl-2H-tetrazol to obtain a compound of chemical formula III; and a step of reducing the compound of chemical formula III.
