A paint brush 10 comprises a bristle portion 14 for applying paint, a handle 12, and a ferrule 16 which secures the bristle portion to the handle, in which the ferrule partially locates inside the handle portion. The ferrule and handle have external peripheral surfaces 39 41 wherein the external peripheral surface of the ferrule is positioned radially inwardly of the external peripheral surface of the handle. The handle includes a metallic blade 20 for removing a lid of a paint container. The ferrule extends into a blind aperture 17 in the handle which further has a ferrule support 27 which extends from the base 29 of the aperture. The weighting and positioning of the metallic blade 20 enables the centre of gravity of the paint brush to lie such that the bristles are raised off a surface. A step between the handle and ferrule acts as a paint catcher. The ferrule is extruded as a continuous band such that there are no joins that allow paint to build up and the handle is injection moulded. |
