PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass plate by a float process which provides a flat thin glass plate. SOLUTION: The method for producing a glass plate by a float process includes: a stage where a glass ribbon is formed while continuously feeding a molten glass to a horizontal molten tin bath face; and a stage where the glass ribbon is pulled up from the outlet of the molten metal tin bathtub, and is carried from the upstream to the downstream. Lift out rolls for carrying the glass ribbon are arranged at least by 3 to 10 lines between the outlet of the molten metal tin bathtub and an annealing furnace, and, regarding their arrangement pattern, at least one point among the points at which the lift out roll arranged among both the lift out rolls comes into contact with the glass ribbon lies at the upper part than a virtual line 1 obtained by connecting the point at which the lift out roll on the uppermost stream comes into contact with the glass ribbon and the point at which the lift out roll on the downstream flow comes into contact with the glass ribbon.
