The indicator surface has left and right headlights controlled by an adaptive high beam assistance system. A standby display indicates an activation status of the assistance system. An indicator (1) i.e. headlight symbol icon, renders a headlight status of the left and right headlights when the assistance system is activated, where the headlight status includes a headlight low beam (2), a high beam and a partial high beam (4). The headlight symbol icon is used with a colored letter for representation of the partial high beam.
