PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to attach compensation films with different refractive indexes to an upper and a lower substrate to reduce color shift phenomenon, thereby improving contrast ratio. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes an LCD panel(300), a first compensation film(25), a first polarization plate(22), a second compensation film(15), a second polarization plate(12). The LCD panel includes a liquid crystal layer which is vertically aligned. The first compensation film is attached on a first substrate in which the thin film transistor of the LCD panel is formed. The first polarization plate is attached to the outer surface of the first compensation film. The second compensation film is attached on a second substrate corresponding to the first substrate. The second polarization film is attached to the outer surface of the second compensation film.
