PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which hardly causes the curling and jamming of a paper and which is superior in image quality and high in safety. SOLUTION: A paper dryer 20 includes a paper drying means which is arranged in a paper conveying path in the vicinity of a fixing device 16 and upstream from the fixing device 16 and includes a magnetron 22 and a paper drying pipe 24 connected to the magnetron 22. A humidity sensor 40 detecting the humidity of a paper feeding cassette 12 and a water content sensor 42 detecting the water content of the paper P are provided as a control means for the paper drying means, in a housing in the vicinity of the paper feeding cassette 12 of an image forming apparatus body 1. The oscillation output of the magnetron 22 is controlled based on detection signals from the humidity sensor 40 and the water content sensor 42. The paper drying pipe 24 includes a paper carry-in entrance 26 and a paper discharge port in a pair of opposite surfaces and the full surface of the paper P passing through the inside of the paper drying pipe 24 is uniformly induction heated by the magnetron 22.
